Durham City is only a 20 minute drive away with so much to see and do. Explore the cobbled streets and walk about the historical cathedral and castle.

Newcastle is a 40 minute drive away. Shopping, stunning river, culture galore and an abundance of fantastic bars and restaurants to refuel in.

Hamsterley Forest - famous for mountain biking and walking, amazing kids play areas and a lovely little cafe
Low Barnes Nature Reserve – beautiful spot for a nature watching or a wander with the kids with a little café.
Hardwick Park – lovely open space with play areas, ducks to feed, café and walks
Bishop Auckland Castle – impressive castle to visit and gorgeous Deer Park to explore
Kynren – an open-air show in the summer months showing the history of the area
Locomotion – train museum with interesting displays and fun bits for the kids too

Bowes Museum – wonderful museum renowned for its collections of art, fashion and design. Lovely café.
